As one of the most needed resources in human life, water certainly plays an important role in nature. As a resource that is directly enjoyed by the benefits of living things on earth, it certainly cannot be arbitrary in choosing water. There are water quality parameters that must be considered when using water, both for use in everyday life and for other needs.
The water quality parameters themselves are parameters used to measure water quality levels. To find out the quality of this water can be done by conducting tests, both in the form of biological, physical and water quality testing.
In testing the water, there are several indicators that must be met in order to be able to call the tested water of good quality and feasible to be utilized. Some indicators or parameters used include the following:
1. Acidity (pH)
The first water quality parameters are seen in terms of chemistry. Water pH or acidity will determine whether the water has good quality or not. The level of acidity in the water will greatly affect the level of fertility of these waters. Waters with high acidity levels have low productivity, and vice versa in alkaline conditions. So the best is the waters with normal acidity.
Temperature is the next water quality parameter that can affect the development of organisms in it. The temperature in an aquatic area can be influenced by various factors, such as the season, the height of the water area from the sea surface, the depth of the water and even the flow of water. The most ideal water temperature for the growth of organisms in it is the waters with a temperature difference that is not so significant between day and night.

The factor that influences water quality is brightness. Brightness is a physical parameter of water quality. Water brightness level will be very influential on the photosynthesis of the organisms inhabiting these waters. Especially if the waters are to be used as a location for fish farming or other food organisms, then the brightness level is a very important factor to support life in it. Water that is good for the environment should not be too bright or too cloudy.
4. Organisms in the Territorial Waters
Apart from the chemical and physical aspects, water quality parameters can also be seen from the biological elements. For example, there is a diversity of plankton species in these waters or also types of fish that can live in these waters.
If in one area of the waters there are certain types of fish in large quantities, then this can indicate the quality of the water. Vice versa, if there is not much fish that live in these waters, then the water quality is not good.
As a natural resource that has an important role, water can not only be used by humans. Some organisms also use territorial waters as their place of residence. Therefore, testing of water quality parameters is needed to measure water quality from the elements of physics, chemistry, and biology.
By knowing the parameters of good water quality, humans can also use it for many things. In addition to being used for consumption, good quality waters can also be used as agricultural land and the breeding of other food commodities such as fish and shrimp.
