1. Volga River

The title of the longest river in Europe is achieved by the Volga River. Administratively, the Volga River belongs to Russia. The Volga River flows in the western part of Russia. The river surrounds the country’s 11 largest cities, one of which is the capital of Moscow. The upstream source of the Volga River is Valdai Hills. From these springs, the Volga River flows as far as 3,692 km before reaching the Caspian Sea.

The Volga has 2 tributaries namely Oka on the right and Kama on the left. The Volga River is divided into 3 parts, namely the upper Volga which starts from the source of the spring to the Oka tributary, the middle Volga which is a meeting of the Oka tributary with the Kama tributary, and the low Volga which is a meeting of the Kama River to the tip of the Volga.

2. Danube River

The Danube flows 2850 km and is the second longest river in Europe. The source of the Danube River is in the Black Forest in Germany and empties into the Black Sea in Romania. The Danube River passes through 10 countries with each of them having several cities.

The Danube has tributaries spread in 7 other countries. The physical shape of the Danube is wide and used by local residents for ship transportation. To facilitate transportation, the upstream section has been built a canal that is connected to the Main River to the Rhine.

In Russia and Kazakhstan, there is a Ural river with a length of 2,428 km. Not only on the European continent but have the Urals also crossed the Asian continent. The upper Ural River is in Russia and its downstream is in the Caspian Sea. In the process of flow, the Ural River passes through several cities. 4. Dnieper River

The 2,285 km river passes through various cities in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine with the largest percentage in Ukraine. The upper reaches of the Dnieper are in swamps in the Valdai Hills and empties into the Black Sea, Dnieper estuary, and Dnieper-Bug estuary. Since long ago, the Dnieper River has been used as a water transportation route. In 1948, a hydropower plant was rebuilt that utilized the Dnieper river flow.
